ICUE 2010 Design Project Competition

Eligibility

  1. Current engineering undergraduate student from any engineering discipline
  2. Student team of 2 to 4 members is optimal, but teams of any size may participate

Rules and Regulations of Competition

  1. Topics of the project competition must be Electrical and Computer Engineering related:-
    • Communication System
    • System Control
    • Computer Engineering (Hardware and Software)
    • Electronics
    • Eletromagnetic
    • Energy System
    • Photonics
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Aerospace Engineering
  2. Both university academic project and extra-curriculum oriented project are accepted
  3. Total time of completing the project must not be longer than 2 years
  4. Please note that the competition is mainly demonstration-based
  5. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. The project entry must be the original work of the competitors

Judging Process

  1. Total judging time is set to be 10 to 15 minutes per team
  2. Project evaluation is based on:-
    • Contents
    • Creativity
    • Demonstration and Presentation
  3. Poster presentation is required, please refer to the poster specifications below:
    • The maximum size of the poster is 6’ by 3’, which is the size of the poster board.
    • Participants are also allowed to design their posters on a folded poster board.

Note: Please bring any prototype if applicable, any necessary facilities such as power extension cord are provided.

*Subsidies are available for travel expenses from outside Toronto.

Registration Process

  1. Please fill in the registration form at http://www.ieee.utoronto.ca/icue/register
  2. Please submit a copy of abstract describing the main idea of your project at contact@ieee.ece.utoronto.ca . Qualification to the final presentation will be evaluated based on the submitted abstract.
  3. The deadline for registration is April 14, 2010
  4. The final status of acceptance will be informed by April 16, 2010

Prizes

    1. Participation certificates will be given to all competitors
    2. Three best design projects will be awarded based on the evaluation scheme
    3. Prizes for top three places will be provided by our industrial sponsors
